It is time to gather together again!  Join with some great people to draw closer to God and His plan for you.  We are offering seven workshops.  Whether you are taking a step toward Lay Servant or Lay Speaker certificate or just want to join with others in learning and fellowship, you will be uplifted and encouraged on your spiritual journey.

Cost:  $25.00 per person

Cancellation policy:   cancellations must be received via email to lisa.timmerman@inumc.org by 11:59 pm on September 9, 2021 to be eligible for a refund less processing fee.  No refunds after this date.

Students are required to purchase their own materials prior to class.  Materials are available through Cokesbury.com, Amazon.com and other online retailers.

  • Basic Course - this course is required for first time attendees.  Discover and employ your personal spiritual gifts as God intended.  Learn the worth of servant leadership.  Book:  Lay Servant Ministries  isbn: 978-0-88177-626-3  $8.50 - 11.
  • Basic Course for Youth - For grades 7-12.  Same book as above
  • Leading in Prayer - For many people, prayer remains a mystery.  Grow in confidence and skill in prayer, both public and personal.  Requires completion of the Basic Course.  Book Let the Whole Church Say Amen!   isbn: 978-0-6870-9077-8  $13 - 17
  • Beginning Preaching - Begin to learn tools to create faithful, engaging sermons and learn skills to gain comfort in public speaking in all settings.  Book: From Pew to Pulpit  isbn: 978-0-68706-660-5  $10 - 11;  8 maximum registrants; Requires completion of the Basic Course. 
  • Advanced Preaching - Dig deeper into the skills learned in Beginning Preaching.  Discuss types of sermons, using the hymnal, finding a story, and how to better communicate your thoughts.  Book:  From Your Heart to Theirs  isbn:  978-0-88177-536-5; 8 maximum registrants; Requires completion of the Basic Course. 
  • Discovering Your Spiritual Gifts - Understand your gifts and how the church can use them to fulfill its mission and ministry.  Learn what it means to be a spiritual leader.  Requires completion of the Basic Course.   Book:  Each One a Minister  isbn:  978-0-88177-375-0  $10 - 13
