You are invited to join us for the Lay Servant Ministries Academy to begin or continue training for living out the call to make disciples for the transformation of our churches, communities, and world.  

Cost:  $15.00 per person

  • Preaching I – Called to Preach* - Begin to learn tools to create faithful, engaging sermons and learn skills to gain comfort in public speaking in all settings. Led by Pastor Tom Clark, Book:  From Pew to Pulpit, isbn 978-0-68706-660-5    $10-16

  • Preaching II* - Dig deeper into the skills learned in Preaching I.  Discuss types of sermons, using the hymnal, finding a story, and how to better communicate your thoughts. Led by Pastor Wayne Williams, Book: “From Your Heart to Theirs”, isbn 978-0-88177-536-5    $6

  • Justice in Everyday Life - Hear the church's views on the contemporary issues with which it is confronted today. The book covers topics such as: natural world, social community, economic community, political community, and the Biblical foundations for those decisions.  Led by Mike Settles, Book: “Social Principles of UMC” , isbn 978-1-50183-577-3    $4

  • Embracing Personal Prayer - Learn & practice the tools to deepen your relationship with the Lord through prayer.  Led by Peg Tenhave, CLS, Book: “Lord, Teach Us to Pray”, isbn 978-0-88177-570-9    $10
