You are invited to join us for the Lay Servant Ministries Academy to begin or continue training for living out the call to make disciples for the transformation of our churches, communities, and world. This is an in-person LSA and you must attend all four sessions to receive credit.

Cancellation policy: cancellations must be received via email to susan.burris@inumc.org by 11:59 pm on Thursday, February 19, 2026 to be eligible for a refund less processing fee. No refunds after this date.

- Introduction to Lay Ministry: the BASIC Course - led by Pastor Sheri LoCascio - Discover and employ your personal spiritual gifts, learn the worth of servant leadership, and be rooted in good spiritual practices. - Devotional Life in the Wesleyan Tradition - led by Pastor Jim Denton - Structured around Wesley's "means of grace," this study covers, among other topics, prayer, scripture, the Lord's Supper, and fasting - important aspects in John Wesley's devotional life. - Aging and Ministry in the 21st Century - led by Pastor Wayne Williams - The church is in the hands of its elders, and the church needs to tap their wisdom, energy, experience, and talents. - Lay Servants as Christian Transformational Leaders (Advanced) - led by CLS Karen Williams - This course will guide lay servants seeking to be more empowered to lead their congregations toward vitality. - Living Our United Methodist Beliefs - led by Pastor Tom Clark - Explore the special gifts of theology, witness, and organization that the UMC brings to the church universal, how we got where we are today, and how our distinctive emphases are still needed in the 21st century church.
